Ewa Maslowska was born in Krakow. She received her diploma from the Architecture department at Krakow`s Institute of Technology, in the Studio of Historical Monuments Preservation. She has been a member of several painters´ groups, like EU-Man (an international organization comprising painters from EU countries), PORTON (a group of professional artists under UNESCO which was established in Vienna), ART RAIN from Finland, TARU Project (member of a group from Finland), Dutch Foundation 2000.
She is a permanent member of the Polish Association for Artists.
Ewa Maslowska is generally working independently however she is cooperating with different groups of artists from different parts of the world which adds to her artistic development. Ewa gets inspired by diversity of cultures, landscapes, lights and colours.
She is mainly occupied with oil painting, but also with watercolours, acrylics, distempers and pastels. She presented her works at about 100 exhibitions (including 70 individual ones) in Poland, Hungary, Germany, Australia, USA and Switzerland, Finland, Peru, Holland, Denmark and Korea. A variety of paintings` themes – nudes, portraits, landscapes, still lives, flowers, architecture, ballet – is the pretext of discovering the co-operation of light and colours and movement.
The pastels, especially three most representative cycles "Nudes" and "Knots" and "Ballet" gain the brightness due to rubbing layers of dry pastels into the paper and later paining with a brush. Bigger oil cycles "Afghanistan, Pakistan, India" are the result of the artist’s wandering about in these countries. A cycle "Children" depict the artist’s children. Landscapes show pictures from Finland (studies of water and boats). "Finish ballet" has been recently presented in Poland, Denmark, Finland and Austria.
Strong light contrasts are the characteristic feature of all her paintings. They are achieved by painting blotches in vivid colours.
The pictures are painted with passion, a´la prima, texturally. In the chaos of chiaroscuro contrasts, there is a harmony of lines and colours with a great amount of expression.
Dutch Foundation 2000 appointed Ewa Maslowska to be one of 2000 best painters in the world at the exhibition in Korea, Seoul in 2003. She has won many competitions, the latest one in 2000 for the exhibition for the opening of the International Culture Centre in Helsinki.
Apart from the exhibitions Ewa initiates performances and happenings in cooperation with different embassies, mainly in Poland, Finland and Denmark. Among others: an exhibition – happening "Imagine World Peace" in Helsinki, Finland, a startling vision of the fight for peace in the world.
Ewa Maslowska is also the author of illustrations for almost 50 books for children, including 30 with her own texts. The books were published in many countries such as Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Spain, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, France and others.
